The War Widows Association was established in New Delhi in 1971 after being registered under the Registrar of Society Act of 1860 amended in 1957. The need of this Association arose especially as India was facing an aftermath of a postwar situation after repeated armed conflicts with our neighbors in 1965 and 1971.

The War Widows Association was founded by our Chairperson, Padma Bhushan, Dr.(Mrs.) V. Mohini Giri who has dedecated her whole life in caring the wives and children of Martyrs.

• We respond to the queries and requests from war widows who want their rights to be honoured.
• We play the role of a support group ensuring that widows and their families are able to access all their entitlements, pension and other benefits.

We are involved in

• Counseling widows who have lost their partners in areas of conflict and war.
• Representing war widows at National events organized in remembrance of those who have lost their lives in the service of the Nation
• Keeping in touch with government departments dealing with rehabilitation and resettlement.
• Raising funds for welfare programs for war widows.
